Our Cal/OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training (2025), compliant with Title 8 CCR Section 5192 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 regulations, is designed to prepare workers and supervisors for safely handling hazardous substances and managing operations at hazardous waste sites.
Upon completing the course, participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to identify chemical hazards, implement effective site control measures, and respond to emergencies in accordance with Cal/OSHA standards. They will also be able to make informed decisions regarding risk assessment, hazard communication, and the correct selection, use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE). Additionally, individuals will learn how to follow proper decontamination procedures, monitor environmental conditions, and contribute to a safe and compliant worksite.
Upon completion of the Cal/OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training (2025) course, the learner will be able to:
- Identify hazardous substances and evaluate site-specific risks in accordance with Cal/OSHA Title 8 CCR Section 5192 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 standards.
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of personnel involved in hazardous waste operations and emergency response.
- Implement site control programs, including setting up work zones, site security, and communication systems to ensure worker safety.
- Recognize and respond to potential exposure hazards such as chemical, biological, radiological, and physical threats.
- Develop and implement a site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP) addressing identified risks and required controls.
- Select, inspect, and properly use various levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate to specific hazards and job tasks.
- Demonstrate proper procedures for donning, doffing, and maintaining PPE, including chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection.
- Apply decontamination procedures for personnel, equipment, and the surrounding environment to prevent the spread of contamination.
- Monitor air quality and environmental conditions using detection instruments to identify and measure potential threats.
- Follow safe work practices and apply engineering controls to minimize exposure and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Understand and follow hazardous materials handling procedures, including storage, labeling, and transportation requirements.
- Respond to emergencies with appropriate first response actions, including evacuation, containment, and communication protocols.
- Coordinate with other team members and agencies during response efforts to ensure effective communication and task management.
- Recognize the symptoms of chemical exposure and understand basic toxicology principles related to hazardous substances.
- Participate in medical surveillance programs and understand the importance of health monitoring for hazardous waste workers.
- Conduct and participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and post-incident debriefings to reinforce safety culture and continuous improvement.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation for compliance with Cal/OSHA and federal HAZWOPER requirements.
- Safely perform cleanup, removal, and disposal of hazardous materials according to regulatory standards and best practices.
- Support the implementation of long-term hazard mitigation strategies at hazardous waste sites.
- Demonstrate awareness of rights, responsibilities, and protections provided under OSHA standards and Cal/OSHA regulations.
