Course Overview
The DOT Hazmat Transportation: General Awareness (HMR-181) course provides a basic introduction to the DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) and the security awareness requirements. It meets the DOT’s HMR initial and recurrent training requirements for many hazmat employees and employers involved in the transportation of hazardous materials.
Who Should Enroll?
This course is intended for hazmat employers and hazmat employees whose job functions affect the safe transportation of hazardous materials, including personnel who prepare, package, load, or unload hazmat shipments.
Regulatory Requirements
- Hazmat employees must receive recurrent training at least once every three years to remain compliant with the HMR.
- Employees involved in air transport must meet FAA recurrent training requirements, often every two years.
- This course satisfies introductory HMR general awareness and security awareness training; it can be used for initial or recurrent training as applicable to the employee’s role.
