The OSHA Scaffolding Safety Training course is tailored to offer comprehensive guidance and essential knowledge to individuals engaged in various aspects of scaffold-related activities, such as erection, disassembly, operation, maintenance, and inspection. It ensures compliance with OSHA's Scaffolds Standard for the Construction industry, outlined in 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L.

Scaffolding serves as a temporary structure utilized across multiple industries to facilitate work at elevated levels. Despite its widespread use, the improper utilization, design flaws, and other engineering deficiencies pose significant risks, including worker injuries and fatalities stemming from falls, falling objects, electrocution hazards, or scaffold collapses.
After completing the OSHA Scaffolding Safety Training course, the learner will be able to:
  • Define what constitutes a scaffold and identify the various types of scaffolding used in different work environments.
  • Differentiate between an aerial lift and a scissor lift and describe the general requirements for their safe use.
  • List the hazards associated with the use of scaffolding on a worksite and explain how to mitigate these hazards.
  • Explain the general and specific requirements for the construction of scaffold platforms as per OSHA standards.
  • Summarize the four critical considerations for scaffold planking, including material, strength, platform construction, and the use of toeboards.
  • Discuss OSHA standards for maintaining a safe distance between scaffolding and overhead power lines to prevent electrocution hazards.
  • Outline OSHA specifications regarding scaffold load capacity, including factors that affect load capacity and how to calculate it.
  • Describe the responsibilities of a competent person and qualified person in the training, inspection, and safe utilization of scaffolds.
  • Discuss the training requirements for individuals who use, erect, and dismantle scaffolds.
  • Summarize OSHA regulations concerning fall protection and falling object protection for employees working on or around scaffolds to prevent injuries and fatalities.
