Our OSHA Silica Awareness Training course provides an overview of the hazards related to exposure to respirable crystalline silica (silica dust) and the control measures that can be implemented to limit exposure to safe levels.

Silica compounds occur naturally in the environment and can also be produced synthetically. These compounds often expose workers to silica dust levels exceeding the permissible exposure limit (PEL) set by OSHA's Respirable Crystalline Silica Standards.
By the end of this course, you'll be able to:
  • Understand the key requirements of OSHA's Silica Standards for both general workplaces and construction sites.
  • Define silica and identify where it comes from, both naturally and through human production.
  • Recognize situations where workers might be exposed to silica dust on the job.
  • List the various health problems caused by breathing in respirable crystalline silica.
  • Understand the OSHA action level (AL) and permissible exposure limit (PEL) for silica dust.
  • Learn about different methods to reduce silica exposure and comply with OSHA regulations.
  • Understand the requirements for workers who choose specific dust control methods.
  • Grasp OSHA's guidelines for exposure control plans, proper respiratory protection, workplace cleanliness, training protocols, and recordkeeping for workers exposed to silica.
